Heart Surgery Plan in ENGLISH

Dear Family, Friends and supporters:

Thank you for how you have walked with us in David’s health journey. The time is approaching for David’s needed heart surgery.

David is not in danger; he has been stable. Thank God, as he needs lots of care with all the medical needs for his Down Syndrome, tracheostomy, and his heart. This includes the constant need for check-ups and follow-ups at the hospital. David has a large ventricular defect (VSD) that needs surgical correction, it is a high-risk operation and recovery requires a lot of intensive care.

We first considered having this surgery here in Chiang Mai, the cardiologist at Maharat Hospital told us that the operation can be scheduled for the second week of April 2023. However, we were also looking for surgery options in the USA and Mexico and discovered that the Monterrey government and Hospital Murguerza are offering free heart surgeries for children.

We checked the requirements and sent our documents and application through Ana’s mom. The cardiologist (who is part of the team for doing free heart surgeries) explained there is increased risk for David because of his pulmonary artery bandage and tracheostomy that were placed almost 4 years ago. The doctor seriously recommended us to do this surgery in Monterrey. It could take at least 6 months for all of David's medical care surrounding this surgery.

Part of the complication is that our son Daniel’s Mexican birth certificate and passport are not ready yet. We were thinking since October 2022 that it would not take long for Daniel's documents for his Thai adoption at the Mexican Embassy in Bangkok. Our hope is we could have his certificate and passport to travel as a family to Monterrey Mexico. We are the first case for the embassy in these conditions, in Mexico they must validate all the documents of the adoption which was made in Thailand, as well as the translations we did from Thai to English and Spanish. This is taking a long time and David's heart surgery is already necessary. We are praying about this and thinking of waiting until mid-June for Daniel's papers. We are trusting in God that we can have Daniel’s documents by May and schedule the trip to Monterrey around July.

Though David’s heart surgery will be free of costs there will be other cost for us. This includes round trip plane tickets for five people from Chiang Mai to Monterrey. Plus, the added expenses of David's medical needs for his consultations, therapies, tracheostomy supplies and materials, medicines, transfers, stay and food.

First, we ask you for your support in prayer so that everything is done according to the will of God:

Pray for David's health, that he remains stable, and that no emergency arises.
Pray for Daniel's Mexican papers, that God remove the obstacles in the Mexican Foreign Affairs department and give us his birth certificate and passport on time so we can all travel as a family.
Ask God to open the door for David to be operated on by this good team of doctors at the Muguerza Hospital for free with the support of the government project.
Pray for God’s wisdom to direct us in all decision-making.
Pray for open doors and grace in everything that must be done.
Pray for a smooth trip, we also need to be continuing with the school for Samuel, 8th grade and Daniel 6th grade
Pray for people who can come help at Hope for the Family for the time we are away
